Joyce Honeycutt Murray

Joyce Honeycutt Murray of East Hyco Road passed away on Thursday, August 11, 2022 at the age of 79. Born in Halifax County on May 29, 1943, she was the daughter of the late William Hoyle Honeycutt and the late Mary Pauline Honeycutt. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bobby Lee Murray.

Joyce loved and cherished her family, as well as her church family at Florence Ave Baptist Church. She also enjoyed being on the golf course whenever possible. She will always be remembered for her delicious Chex Mix that she would make at Christmas.

She is survived by a daughter, Laura Eissing; son, Chris Murray and wife, Jennifer; grandchildren, Christa Ewing (Nathaniel), Andrew Eissing, Caylee Williams (Daniel), Cassidy Eissing, Cara Villaspin (Alec), Chloe Eissing, Carly Eissing, Alexander Eissing; great grandchildren, Dabney, Nathaniel Jr., Evangeline and Rowan; and sister, Opal Hooks.

In addition to her husband and her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Phyllis.

Funeral Services will be held at 3:00 PM on Sunday, August 14, 2022 at Florence Avenue Baptist Church in Virgilina with Reverend Herbert Brown officiating. Burial will be in Virgilina Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
