Joyce Brewer Williams

Buffalo Junction, VA- Joyce “Sis” Brewer Williams, widow of Joseph Daniel Williams, Sr., passed away on Monday, April 23, 2018 at the age of 76. She was born in Mecklenburg County on February 19, 1942 to the late Thomas Edward and Minnie Elliott Brewer. Joyce was a school bus driver for many years. She enjoyed farming and loved tending her cows. She was a member at Union Chapel Baptist Church. Joyce is survived by her daughters, Penny W. Tollerson (Raven) of Boydton and Tammy W. Ogburn of Emporia; sons, Joseph D. Williams, Jr. of Skipwith and Jack L. Williams, Sr. (Jennifer) of Buffalo Junction; siblings, Mary Elizabeth Elliott, Sherby Wall, Thurman Brewer and C.B. Brewer all of Virgilina; 9 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by siblings, Marion Brewer, Roy Brewer, Winston Brewer, June Brewer and Alice Clay. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, April 24, 2018 from 7 – 9 p.m. at Watkins Cooper Lyon Funeral Home, 703 Virginia Avenue, Clarksville, VA. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, April 25 at Union Chapel Baptist Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The Reverend Jackie Wray will officiate.
