Juanita Jones Johnson

Juanita Love Jones Johnson "Nita" of Clarksville, VA passed away on Saturday, January 27th at the age of 66. She was born in Halifax County on October 6, 1957 to Garnett L. Jones and Frances Gregory Jones.

Nita was a life long member of New Hope Baptist Church in Skipwith, VA where she was a Sunday School teacher for over 30 years. She retired from the United States Postal Service after 20 plus years as a rural carrier in Boydton, VA. She enjoyed sewing and making quilts for her loved ones. She loved being outside and gardening, especially taking pride in her rose bushes. Nita was known for her warm smile and contagious laughter. She loved her family dearly but her grandchildren were the “apple of her eye.”

She is survived by her husband, Danny W. Johnson; son Cecil A. Johnson (Jenny) ; grandchildren Olivia Spence, Jaxtyn Newton, Lily Rose Johnson; mother Frances Gregory Jones; siblings Steve D. Jones, Denise "Pete" Lenhart, Pamela Ashworth (Steve) and numerous nieces and nephews as well as great nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father, Garnett Love Jones.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, January 31st at New Hope Baptist Church with Reverend Mike Reynolds and Kenneth Johnson officiating. The service will be held at 2pm. The family will receive friends at the church from 1-2pm prior to the service. Burial will follow after the service in the cemetery of the church.
