Juanita Crawford Rice

ALTON, VA Mrs. Juanita Crawford Rice of Alton, VA passed away Wednesday, December 11, 2019 at the age of 89. She was born in Erwin, Tennessee on June 16, 1930 to the late James Alexander Crawford and the late Clara Ada Broomer Crawford and was married to the late Luther Rice. Born and reared in Erwin, TN, she moved to Newport News, VA in 1951 and later to South Boston in 1988. She was a member of Bethel Hill Baptist Church in Roxboro, NC. Left to cherish her memories are daughters, Sheila Guy of Alton, VA, Judy Davis of Glouster, VA,Sandra Shipley of Erwin, TN,; son, Bobby Rice of Newport News, VA; 10 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; 5 Great Great Grandchildren; sister, Eula Kate Rice of Erwin, TN. and special friend, Sara Bowes. In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, James Rice; brother, Bill Crawford; sisters, Ida Mae Blankenship, Goldean Tilson and Gladys Stallard. Funeral Services for Mrs. Rice will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, December 14, 2019 at Bethel Hill Baptist Church with the Reverend Robert Dunn officiating. Interment will follow at Harmony United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday, December 13, 2019 from 5 – 7:00 PM at Brooks Lyon Funeral Home and other times at the home.
