Julia Elizabeth Yancey Poarch, 91, died Wednesday, July 14 at the Petersburg Home for Ladies. The widow of William Henry Poarch, Mrs. Poarch was born in Buffalo Junction, Virginia and moved to Clarksville as a child where she lived until 2002 when she moved to Petersburg. She was a graduate of Clarksville High School, was employed by Burlington Industries for 19 years and later worked at Aarons Creek Farms for 20 years. She was a founding member of the Clarksville Chapter Number 145 of the Order of the Eastern Star where she served in many capacities, including Past Worthy Matron. Julia was also a lifetime member of Clarksville Baptist Church. Mrs. Poarch is survived by two sons, William Hillary Poarch and Clyde Anderson Poarch, both of Petersburg; a daughter, Judy Boyd Poarch Nance of Jupiter, Florida and London, England; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and a brother, Marshall A. Yancey of Clarksville. She was predeceased by a granddaughter, Sara Elizabeth Nance. Visitation hours will be July 19 from 7 to 9 PM at Watkins Cooper Lyon Funeral Home in Clarksville. Funeral services will be held at Clarksville Baptist Church with Reverend Wade Tucker and Reverend H.V. Conner on July 20 at 11 AM with interment in Oakhurst Cemetery.
