June Hite Gordon Hicks

June Hite Gordon Hicks of South Boston passed away peacefully at home on Monday, October 2, 2023 at the age of 89.  She was born in Halifax County on June 17, 1934 to the late Abbie "A.M." Hite and the late Beatrice Shields Hite.  She was preceded in death by her husband, John Hicks.

June was a member of Second Baptist Church for 60 years, and she retired from Burlington after 43 years of employment. She loved her family and her friends.  As a child she worked on her family's farm and later in life with her husband, John.  She loved to be in her flower garden and mowing her grass. Her hobby was sewing and she used to make her own clothes.

She is survived by her son, Jason Gordon and fiance, Kelly Price; granddaughter, Erin Gordon;  special long time friend, Owen Barksdale; her caregivers, Barbara Price, Shirley Harris and Connie Smith and not to be forgotten, her beloved dog, Prince.
The family would like to thank 1st Care Hospice for all the loving care given to June during her illness.
In addition to her parents and her husband, June was preceded in death by her 1st husband, Richard Gordon; siblings, Lillian Hite Kendrick, Robert Hite, Clarence Hite and Morell Hite.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, October 7, 2023 at Brooks Lyon Funeral Home Chapel.  Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, 1:00 PM - 2:00 PM at Brooks Lyon Funeral Home.
