Karen "Jean" Hughes Daniel

Buffalo Junction, VA Karen Lugenia “Jean” Hughes Daniel, widow of Thomas Alden Daniel, passed away on Friday, July 14, 2017 at the age of 76.She was born in Halifax County on November 21, 1940 to the late John Stanley and Allie Hite Hughes.Mrs. Daniel was a graduate of Virgilina High School and retired from Burlington Industries, where she worked as a clerk in the Burling and Mending department.After her retirement, she set with elderly and sick people. Jean was a member of Hitesburg Baptist Church. Jean Daniel is survived by daughters, Wendy Powell of Buffalo Junction and Lisa Daniel of Virgilina; grandchildren, Chase Bowes-Daniel, Ali Powell and Troy Vaughan and two great grandchildren.She is also survived by a brother, Bobby Hughes of Buffalo Junction and sisters, Nancy Fox of Charlottesville, Joyce Gillespie of Tazewell, Mary Forlines of Jacksonville, FL and Betty Chadduck of Little Rock, AK.In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Daniel was preceded in death by a brother, Wilford Hughes. The family will receive friends on Sunday, July 16, 2017 from 7 – 8:30 p.m. at Watkins Cooper Lyon Funeral Home, 703 Virginia Ave., Clarksville, VA.Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Monday, July 17 at Hitesburg Baptist Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery.
