Karen Nichols Young

HALIFAX, VA Mrs. Karen Nichols Young passed away Thursday, December 21, 2017 at the age of 65.Born in Halifax County on May 24, 1952, she was the daughter of Julia Ann West Nichols and the late Thomas M. Nichols, Jr. and was married to Mike Young. Karen was a former Social Worker with Halifax Regional Hospital, loved decorating and spending time with her grandchildren. She was a member of Clover Baptist Church where she also was a past Sunday School teacher and was a volunteer with mission work in Ukraine. Survivors also include her children, Laura Beth Young and Matthew Thomas Young and wife, Jessica; her grandchildren, Madelyn, Noah and Julia Young; aunts, Bernice Fussell and Mary Catherine Carr; special friends, Marlene Cochran and Donna Ingram. Funeral services for Karen will be held Saturday, December 23, 2017 at 2:00 PM at Brooks Lyon Betty B. Jones Chapel. Burial will follow in the Virgilina Cemetery.The family will receive friends on Friday night, December 22, 2017 at Brooks Lyon Funeral Home from 7:00 PM to 8:30 PM and other times at the home, 1111 Salishan Drive, Halifax, VA.
