Mrs. Katheryn Adams Irby of South Boston died Saturday, December 21, 2013 at the age of 91. She was born on April 14, 1922 in Charlotte County, VA to the late Luther Adams and the late Patti Royster Adams and was married to the late Robert Edward Irby. Mrs. Irby was a member of McCanless Memorial United Methodist Church where she was a former Sunday School teacher, and she was a retired employee of JP Stevens. Survivors include a daughter, Dale Glasscock and husband Jimmy of South Boston, VA; one son, Byron Irby and wife Joyce of South Boston, VA; two brothers, Billy Adams and "Jiggs" Adams, both of Charlotte County, VA; her daughter-in-law, Deborah Irby of Rougemont, NC; five grandchildren, Jennifer Oakes, Kelly Glasscock, Amber Tingen, Allison Irby, and Spencer Irby; three great grandchildren, Emily Oakes, Sydney Tingen and A. J. Tingen. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Bobby Irby. Funeral services for Mrs. Irby will be held on Monday, December 23, 2013 at 2 pm at Brooks Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Phil Showers officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Brooks Funeral Home Sunday night from 7 until 8:30 and at other times at the home of Dale & Jimmy Glasscock, 206, Eanes Street, South Boston, VA.
