Kathleen Ramsey Puryear

Kathleen Ramsey Puryear, 88, beloved and devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother went home to be with the Lord on September 1, 2010. She was a resident of The Woodview. Mrs. Puryear was born in Halifax County May 12, 1922 to the late William Albright and Erna Talley Murray. She was one of eight children, with one surviving sister, Mary Alice Lipford. Mrs. Puryear was married to Berkley S. Ramsey (deceased l944) and Jesse L. Puryear (deceased 2000). She is survived by three children, Berkley Carlyle Ramsey, Janice Puryear Moore and Kathy Puryear Baughman. One son, Tony Wayne Puryear, predeceased her. She had 11 grandchildren, Stephanie R. Ferrugia, Berkley David Ramsey, Lisa Faison Smook, Kim Faison Moore, Steven Faison, Jessica Strickland, Brann Tuck, Christie Tuck, Patrick Lee Blackwell, Sandra Goode and Mitchell Puryear as well as 12 great grandchildren. Visitation for family and friends will be in the Brooks Funeral Home Chapel, Friday, Sept 3, 7:00 to 8:00 pm; a memorial service at Brooks Funeral Chapel on Saturday, Sept 4, at l0:00 a.m. and a graveside service at Black Walnut Baptist Church cemetery at ll:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Alzheimer’s Association, Southeastern Virginia Chapter,6350 Center Drive, Suite 102, Norfolk, Virginia 23502, or Danville Community College's Educational Foundation at 1008 S.
