Kathleen Loyd Slemons

SOUTH BOSTON, VA Mrs. Kathleen Loyd Slemons passed away Wednesday, September 20, 2017 at the age of 92.Born in Washington County, TN October 26, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Charles Elbert Loyd and the late Goldie Selena Kyker and was married to the late William Carroll Slemons. Mrs. Slemons was a member of Mt. Wesley United Methodist Church.Along with her husband, they operated a country store and gas station. She is survived by a daughter, Connie Zamora and husband Pedro; sisters, Jo Ann Rash of Johnson City, TN and Nylah Leonard of Maryland; brother, Herman Loyd; grandchildren, Candice Zamora of South Boston, VA and Sean Zamora of Arlington, Texas; great granddaughters, Katelyn Freeman, Ella Zamora, and Kayleigh Freeman. Other than her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by 5 siblings. Funeral services for Mrs. Slemons will be 2:00 PM Sunday, September 24, 2017 at Dillow Taylor Chapel in Jonesborough, TN with Reverend Jeremy Dykes officiating.Burial will follow at Mt. Wesley United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday prior to the service from 1:00 – 2:00 PM. The family requests those wishing to give memorials please consider, Mt.
