Kathy Cabaniss Matthews

SOUTH BOSTON, VA Mrs. Kathy Cabaniss Matthews of South Boston passed away on Thursday, June 8, 2017 at the age of 65.Born in Prince Edward County on February 1, 1952, she was the daughter of the late James Henry Cabaniss and the late Isabelle Woodson Cabaniss and was married to Luther “Luke” Herbert Matthews, JR. Kathy was raised in the Mecklenburg Co./Chase City areaand was a member of Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She was a loving wife, an avid bowler, animal lover, photographer and a great listener. She is survived by her husband, Luke; a sister, Vickie Currin of Chase City; nieces, Lisa C. Thompson, Ayme Currin, Teresa Boschen (Tim), and Nicki Dunlap; nephews, Chris Currin, Scott Currin, Sean Currin and Jonathan Thomas; great niece, Morgan Boschen; great nephews, Zane Currin and Reed Boschen, sister in law, Marcia Thomas (Jimmy); and mother in law, Maryland Matthews. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, June 10, 2017 at 2:00 PM at Brooks Lyon Funeral Home Betty B. Jones Chapel. Family and friends will gather to celebrate her life on Saturday, June 17, 2017 at 1:00 PM at Cherry Hill United Methodist Church, 2153 Cherry Hill Church Road, South Boston, VA.
