Kelly Chappell, beloved husband, father, and friend, went to be with his Lord and Savior on September 3, 2023, at the age of 54. He was born in the small town of South Boston, VA that would come to know him as a pillar of its community. He was the cherished husband of 28 years to Patricia and the loving father of two sons, Lance and Logan. He was preceded in death by his parents, Doris and Wesley, and is survived by his sister Wendy (Tommy), sister-in-law Lynn (Will), and his nieces and nephews, Catherine, TJ, Sarah, Johnny, and Jared.
He was a member of First Presbyterian Church where he served as a Deacon. His Christian beliefs and his faith in God were evident in his genuine caring nature and in the way he treated everyone.
Kelly had a zest for life that was evident to all who knew him. He was a devoted husband in every sense of the word. Their love story was one that inspired those around them, a testament to the strength of their bond and the depth of their commitment.
As a father, Kelly was a role model and mentor to his sons, Lance and Logan. He instilled in them the values of hard work, integrity, and a love for the great outdoors. He shared his hobbies of hunting and golf with them, creating countless memories. He had a profound passion for the outdoors. He was a skilled huntsman and advocate for responsible hunting, teaching his sons the importance of conservation and respecting nature. Many friendships were formed on the golf course where his sense of humor and camaraderie made him a cherished companion on the fairway.
He worked in the tobacco industry for the past 30 years and was a dedicated employee at JTI, where he made a significant impact on the organization and touched the lives of his colleagues and growers through dedication, hard work, and innate ability to connect with people.
Kelly's passing leaves a void in the hearts of his family, friends, and the community he held dear. He will be remembered for his unwavering love, his zest for life, and his dedication to his family. His legacy lives on in the memories he created and the love he shared with those fortunate enough to have known him.
A memorial service to celebrate Kelly's life will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, September 7, 2023 at First Baptist Church, 815 N. Main Street, South Boston, VA with visitation one hour prior, 1:00 PM - 2:00 PM.
Memorial contributions in his honor may be made to local charities or a charity of your choice.
