Clarksville, VA - Chief Petty Officer Kenneth Ray Hensley, U.S. Navy (retired) passed on into Eternity on April 20, 2017 at his home in Merifield Acres, Clarksville, VA. He was born on April 10, 1932 in Gravette, Arkansas to Clyde and Juanita Hensley.He enlisted the Navy in June 1951, and after serving 24 years and traveling all over the world, he retired in 1974.At this time he moved his family to Clarksville. He started Hensley’s Well Drilling in the early 80’s with his son, Kevin, from which he retired in 2010.Mr. Hensley was a member and served as a deacon of Gravel Hill Baptist Church in Buffalo Junction.For many years, he and his wife were actively involved with the Opportunity Program of the Good Samaritan Baptist Mission in San Marcos de Colon, Honduras.They considered each life they touched there to be a blessing. He is predeceased by his parents, his sister, Virginia Conner, his brother Richard Hensley, both of Miami, Oklahoma and his youngest son, Brian Hensley. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Pat of the home; two daughters, Donna J.H. Peters, husband Gregg of Wasilla, Alaska and Marian D. Corpus, husband Noel, of Clarksville, VA; two sons, Ric Hensley, wife Viv, of Virginia Beach, VA and Kevin Hensley, wife Annie, of Clarksville, VA; two sisters, Anita Mitchell, husband Jim, of Virginia Beach, VA and Evelyn Graham of Boliver, MO, 14 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren. Visitation will be held Saturday, April 22 from 6-8:00 p.m. at Watkins Cooper Lyon Funeral Home in Clarksville.Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 23, 2017 at Gravel Hill Baptist Church officiated by the Reverend Joey Tucker. Mr. Hensley will be buried with full military honors in the church cemetery, alongside his son, Brian.
