Kenneth Garland Newton

Kenneth Garland Newton, 81, died at Toney’s Rest Home in Oxford, NC on Monday, May 25, 2015.He was born to the late Tommy Lee and Emma Lillian Newton on July 25, 1933.Mr. Newton was a U.S. Army veteran and a retired auditor from Burlington Industries where he worked for forty-three years.He also owned and operated Newton Tire Company from 1968 until 2011.Kenneth is survived by his sister, Joyce N. Davis and her husband Lane of Creedmoor, NC, his nieces, Sheila Newton Hart, Judy Newton Moody, Lori Jaye Newton, Kathy Newton Bradley and Tanya Coghill Jones, and his nephews, Rodney Newton and Jeffrey Newton.He is preceded in death by his wife, Mary Alice Cooper, and his brothers, George S. “Ray” Newton, Clifton Lee Newton, and James Alfred Newton, as well as his niece, Gwendolyn Jane Newton.The family will receive friends at Watkins Cooper Lyon Funeral Home on Wednesday, May 27th from 7:00 until 9:00 pm and also at the home of Todd and Tanya Jones in Clarksville.The funeral service will take place on Thursday, May 28th at 2:00 pm at Nelson Baptist Church.
