Mr. L. D. Buchanan, 82, passed away on Thursday, February 26, 2015, at Duke Medical Center in Durham, NC.Mr. Buchanan was born June 10, 1932 in Mecklenburg County, VA to the late Luther Anna Buchanan and Clara Buchanan Buchanan.He was retired from the textiles industry and put in over forty years of work at Burlington Industries finishing out his career as a fulling mill operator.Mr. Buchanan was a veteran of the US Army where he served during the Korean conflict and was the president of the Beaver Pond Hunt Club.Mr. Buchanan is survived by his wife Peggy Wilkerson Buchanan, his son and daughter in law, Larry and Frances Buchanan of Henderson, NC, his two daughters and sons in law, Donna and Stevie Poole of Buffalo Junction and Shelby and Blake Waggoner of Durham, NC, his sister Jean O’Brien and brother Harold Buchanan, both of Clarksville.His grandchildren, Quentin Buchanan, Leslie Moore, Amy Bernazzani, Stevie Poole, Jr., Sean Waggoner, Ryan Waggoner and his eleven great grandchildren also survive.Services will be held at Watkins Cooper LyonChapel Sunday, March 1, 2015 at 2 pm with the Reverends Michael Bowen and Wally Kelly officiating.Interment will follow at the Union Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery.The family will receive friends Saturday from 7 until 9 pm at the Watkins Cooper Lyon Funeral Home.Contributions may be made in memory to the American Diabetes Association by calling 1-800-342-2383.Online condolences may be expressed to the family at www.wclfh.com.
