Lawrence Basil Monroe

Mr. Lawrence Basil Monroe, Jr., age 54, of Alton died Wednesday, April, 8, 2010. He was born in Virginia on July 16, 1956 and was married to Margie Rice Monroe. Mr. Monroe was veteran of the US Army, a plumber for Climate Control, and was a member of Mountain Rd. Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife; father, Lawrence Basil Monroe, Sr. of Lynchburg; 5 step children, Lynn Hughes of Alton, Karen Hughes of South Boston, Pamela Walker of Halifax, Darlene Hudson of South Boston, and Keith Hughes of Virgilina; 2 sisters, Jeanie Monroe of Rustburg and Barbara Monroe of Myrtle Beach; 3 brothers, Mike Monroe of Hampton, Abe Monroe and Billy Monroe, both of Virginia Beach; 13 step grandchildren; and 5 step great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his mother, Lilly Monroe.
