Lawrence Ray Smith

Lawrence Ray Smith of Virgilina passed away on Sunday, January 21, 2024 at the age of 87.  He was born in Halifax County on January 12, 1937 to the late Obediah Smith and Roxie Pulliam Smith.  He is survived by his wife, Geneva Compton Smith of 59 years.

Lawrence was a lifelong resident of Red Bank and was a retiree from Rochester Button Company in South Boston.  He loved music and always enjoyed playing the guitar.

He is survived by his wife, Geneva; siblings, John Henry Smith (Ida), Dorothy S. Hite and Margaret Link (Bruce); and numerous nieces & nephews.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother & sister-in-law, Robert Smith (Catherine) and brother-in-law, George W. Hite.

A Graveside Service will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, January 25, 2024 at Aarons Creek Cemetery with Reverend Ian Rigney officiating.
