CLARKSVILLE - Leanuard Rodges Strouse, 87, of Clarksville, Virginia, passed away peacefully on March 16th surrounded by his family and friends. Leanuard was born on May 20, 1930, in Norfolk, Virginia. He joined the United States Army in 1952 and after leaving the Army started working in construction where he found his true passion. Leanuard owned his own construction company, Strouse & Company, and then became a partner for Wake Forest Builders. His construction career lasted for 30+ years, earned him the opportunity to be the lifetime director for the National Home Builders Association, the 1981 Home Builders President for Raleigh/Wake County, and to become the director of Home Owners Warranty Corporation. Leanuard was preceeded in death by his parents and three siblings. He also will be joining his son Timothy Rodges Strouse. Leanuard Strouse leaves behind his beloved wife of 63 years, Sylvia Strouse and three daughters Debby West, Sheila Curl, and Valerie Strouse-Bryant, 8 grandchildren, and 10 great grandchildren. Leanuard’s memorial service will be held at Rock Spring Baptist Church on Sunday, March 25th . Visitation will start at 2pm and will be followed by a short memorial service at 3pm. If flowers are sent to the family, they ask that they be plant-able perennials to be placed in a memorial flower garden tended by the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Amedisys Hospice.
