Leon Michael Skwarek, 81, husband of Lorraine Dawson Skwarek, died Wednesday, October 18, 2006 in South Hill. Born in Lawrence Township, NJ on December 4, 1924, Leon was preceded in death by his father, Vincent Skwarek; mother, Aniela Romanowski Skwarek; son, Leon Michael Skwarek; brother John Skwarek; and three sisters, Catherine Ryone, Josephine Skwarek and Helen Oberding. In addition to his wife, Leon is survived by daughters, Susan Brozenea of Ewing, NJ, Cynthia Gilbert and husband Ernie Schirmer of Lawrenceville, NJ; sister, Stella Kramarz of Hamilton, NJ; brother, Thadeuz Ted Skwarek of Lawrenceville, NJ; and stepsons, James A. Buckley of Hilton Head, SC and Joseph Kovacs of Lumberton, NJ. Ten grandchildren, Leon Michael Skwarek, III, Jeffrey Skwarek, Brian Skwarek, Scott Gilbert, Tim Gilbert, Brian Kovacs, Jeffrey Kovacs, Laura Reifscneider, Robert Buckley, and George Buckley; nieces, Anelia Urban, Christine Oberding, Anelia Skwarek, Marion Skwarek, Diane Skwarek; and 3 great grandchildren also survive Mr. Skwarek Leon graduated from the Number 4 School in Lawrence Township, NJ and Princeton High School in Princeton, NJ. A Merchant Marine veteran of World War II, Leon retired in 1980 from General Electric Co. in Trenton, NJ. Upon retirement Leon and Lorraine relocated to Skipwith, VA in 1988. Among the many organizations he belonged to were the American Legion of Chase City, life member Bordentown Elks Lodge # 2085 in Bordentown, NJ, past member of the Clarksville Lions Club, Mecklenburg Farm Bureau. He was also a member of St. Catherine of Sienna Catholic Church in Clarksville. A funeral Mass will be said by Father Silvio Kaberia and Deacon John Sadowski at 11 AM Saturday at St. Catherine of Sienna Catholic Church. Services will be held at a later date at the Greenwood Cemetery in Hamilton, NJ.
