SOUTH BOSTON Mr. Leonard Lee Wilbourn of South Boston passed away on Thursday, November 5, 2020 at the age of 90. He was born in South Boston on April 29, 1930 to the late Claude and Vivian Koger Wilbourn and was married to the late Lula Wilborn Wilbourn. Leonard was employed with JP Stevens as a loom fixer. Later he became the owner for 30 years of Midway Mechanical Heating & Air. He loved his family, teaching his grandchildren fishing and hunting and also getting together with his family. He always enjoyed the annual family trip to the Outer Banks. He made friends with everyone and was a good Christian man. A member of Buffalo Baptist Tabernacle, he served as a deacon and Sunday school teacher. In his latter years he had attended Black Walnut Baptist Church. Left to cherish his memories are daughters, Teresa Crenshaw and husband Rodger of Cluster Springs, Annette Pool of Cluster Springs, Kathy Ridge and husband Bobby of Hickory, NC and Brenda Coates and husband Lanny of Colonial Heights, VA; brother, Melvin Wilbourn of South Boston; sisters, Lucille Reaves and husband Oscar “Bo” of South Boston and Faye Barnhardt and husband Mark of Hephzibah, GA; 7 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. In addition to his parents and wife he was preceded in death by siblings, Clarice Hite, Wayne Wilbourn, Allen Wilbourn and Dean Wilbourn; grandchildren, Keith Watts and Brad Watts. Graveside Services will be held at 3:00 PM on Sunday, November 8, 2020 at Buffalo Baptist Tabernacle Cemetery with Reverend Raymond Wooten and Reverend Billy Coghill officiating.
