Lessie Morris Wilborn

Mrs. Lessie Morris Wilborn of 11243 Huell Matthews Hwy, Alton, VA died on Thursday, May 31, 2012 at the age of 100. She was born in Halifax Co., VA on September 10, 1911 to the late Jessie Morris and the late Mattie Lowery Morris and was married to the late George Elwood Wilborn, Sr. Mrs. Wilborn was a member of Glenwood United Methodist Church in South Boston, VA and was a homemaker. Survivors include five daughters, Clara Thaxton of Portsmouth, VA, Ruby Manning of South Boston, VA, Elsie Reaves & husband, Allen of Alton, VA, Mary Combs of Halifax, VA, and Mattie Thrower & husband, Wayne of South Boston, VA; three sons, Billy Wilborn & wife, Brenda of Alton, VA, George E. Wilborn, Jr. & wife, Ruth of South Boston, VA, and Jimmy Wilborn & wife, Sharon of South Boston, VA; one brother, Berkley Morris & wife, Lavonne of Roxboro, NC; 15 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; and 8 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, one grandson, Neil Thrower, 2 sisters and 3 brothers. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, June 3, 2012 at 3:00 PM at Brooks Funeral Home with the Rev. Bob Woodfin, Rev. George Gorman, Pastor Chris McGee & Rev. Bonnie Pizzeck officiating. Burial will follow in Black Walnut Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Brooks Funeral Home on Saturday, June 2, 2012 from 7:00 PM until 8:30 PM and at other times at the home of her daughter & son-in-law, Elsie & Allen Reaves, 2181 Turbeville Rd., Alton, VA 24520.
