Blackstone, VA - Reverend Lewis Warren Turner, Sr. left us to be with the Lord on Thursday, December 1, 2016 at the age of 93.Rev. Turner, husband of the late Wanda Sweeney Turner, was born in Salem, VA on April 26, 1923 to the late Virginia Brown Turner and the late Marsden Borddus Turner.He served his country during World War II and in the Naval reserve.He graduated from the School of Divinity at Wake Forest University.Rev. Turner pastored Clarksville Baptist Church for more than 20 years before his retirement.He served at Ebenezer Baptist Church for ten years after his retirement from Clarksville. Rev. Turner is survived by a daughter, Mittie Sue King of Victoria; son, Lewis Warren Turner, Jr. of Chapel Hill, NC; grandchildren, Jimmy Turner, Melissa Quinn, Billy Turner, Timmy Overton, Tom Turner, and Joseph Turner.He is also survived by 7 great grandchildren and a sister, Doris Mabes of Salem.In addition to his wife, Rev. Turner was preceded in death by a son, Anthony Robert Turner; brothers, Komer Turner and Woodrow Turner and a sister, Edna Harris. Funeral services for Reverend Lewis Warren Turner, Sr. will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, December 5, 2016 at Clarksville Baptist Church with entombment to follow at Eternity Mausoleum in Oakhurst Cemetery.The services will be officiated by Reverend Jackie Wray and Reverend Dr. Gregory Randall.The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service.
