Lewis Edwin Whitmire

Lewis Edwin Whitmire, 82, widower of Julia Blanks Whitmire, died Friday, March 3, 2006 at MeadowView Terrace in Clarksville. A native of Jackson County, GA. he was the son of Paul and Kate McDougal Whitmire. An Army veteran of World War II, Lewis was retired owner/operator of Lugee Tire Company. Graveside services will be 1PM Monday at Oakhurst Cemetery with the Reverend Henry Lovelace officiating. Lewis is survived by his sisters, Joan Sizemore of Commerce, GA., Peggy Tolbert of Jefferson, GA., Patsy Carter of Colbert, GA., Mildred Youmans of Swainsboro, GA.; brothers, Charles Whitmire of Jefferson, GA., Billy Whitmire of Maysville, GA., Michael Whitmire of Shady Dale, GA.; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends 7-9PM Sunday at Watkins Cooper Lyon Funeral Home.
