Linda Grace Hardy Rice, a cherished individual who brought warmth and light into the lives of her family, friends, and community, passed away peacefully on February 8th, 2025. Born on November 20th, 1948, to the late Sirrene Hardy and the late Annie Kreynus Hardy. Her 76 years of life were filled with love, creativity, and an unwavering dedication to those she held dear.
Linda was the beloved wife of the late Earl F. Rice and devoted mother to her daughters, Tina Rice-Smith and her husband, James, and Shelly Garcia and her husband, Sammy. She was also preceded in death by her son, Jerry Wayne Rice, her brother David Hardy, and her cousin Patsy Humphrey, who was like a sister to her. Her legacy lives on through her adored grandson, J.D. Smith, whom she lovingly referred to as her "piece of gold," and her cherished fur grandbabies, Melky and Ellie.
A woman of boundless creativity and talent, Linda spent her life sewing both as her vocation and her passion. She delighted in crafting handmade curtains, blankets, quilts, and clothes, bringing beauty into every creation. Her love for flowers and gardening was well known, and she found joy in the simple pleasures of cultivating life around her home. A devoted fan of Elvis, she also found great satisfaction in cooking delicious meals for her family and savored the happiness it brought to gatherings.
Family and friends are invited to join in a celebration of Linda's extraordinary life on Saturday, February 15th, at 1:00 PM at South Boston Church of God, where memories of her love and laughter will be shared and cherished.
Linda's absence will be deeply felt, but her legacy of love, kindness, and creativity will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know her.
