Linda Lacks Yancey

Linda Lacks Yancey of Virgilina passed away peacefully at her home on Wednesday, February 26, 2025.  She was born in Halifax County on February 13, 1945 to the late Carlton Dewey Lacks and the late Annie Maude Lacks.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Wendel Yancey and a grandson, Dakota Wayne Yancey.

Linda was a member of Aarons Creek Baptist Church where she sang in the choir for many years.  She enjoyed camping, going to bluegrass gospel singings, crocheting, working with her flowers and spending time with friends and family.

She is survived by her sons, Charles Dewey Yancey (Victoria) of Buffalo Junction & Wendel Scott Yancey of Virgilina; brother, Joseph Delmar Lacks of Virgilina; grandchildren, Renae, Amanda, Austin, Hannah, Katelyn, Savannah & Chyanne; and great grandchildren, Summer, Christopher, Jonathan and Autumn.

A Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, March 1, 2025 at Aarons Creek Baptist Church.  The family will receive friends on Friday, February 28, 2025 from 7:00 P.M. until 8:30 P.M. at Watkins Cooper Funeral Home in Clarksville.

The family requests in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Midway Volunteer Fire Department, 11009 Bill Tuck Hwy., Virgilina, VA 24598.
