Lloyd Alvin Cobb of Boydton, VA passed away on Thursday, September 5, 2024, with his loving wife, Kathryn, and his family by his side. He was born on February 18, 1945 in Quantico, VA and was the son of the late Alvin Harold and Irene Maude Chewning Cobb.
Lloyd spent a lifetime in service to others. He began his career as a professional firefighter and EMT before becoming a deputy sheriff, an honor he would serve until his retirement. Following his retirement, Lloyd was a volunteer firefighter. He was a man truly dedicated to his community and family. In his free time, Lloyd was a painter who enjoyed displaying his work at craft shows for 35 years.
Lloyd is survived by his wife of 60 years, Kathryn Hopkins Cobb; daughters, Terri Cobb Rieder of Raleigh, NC, Rebecca Cobb of Boydton, and Amy Cobb Moore (David) of Boydton; grandchildren, Heather Rieder, Alec Rieder (Ariba), William Seate (Karly), Katheryne Seate; sister, JoAnn Williams (Richard) of Stephens City, VA; and a nephew, Michael Williams of Stephens City, VA. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a son-in-law, Al Rieder.
A Memorial Service will be held at 3:00 PM on Sunday, September 8, 2024 in the Watkins Cooper Lyon Funeral Home Chapel with a Visitation one hour prior. Burial will be private.
In lieu of flowers, Lloyd's family asks that donations be made in his honor to Boydton Volunteer Fire Department or Boydton Life Station.
