Lois Childrey Buchanan

Lois Childrey Buchanan of Halifax, VA, passed away on Tuesday, March 26th, 2024 at Clarksville Health & Rehab.   She was born on November 4th, 1926 in Halifax County to the late Hurley Childrey and Bessie New Childrey. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Buchanan.

Lois was a longtime member of Ash Avenue Baptist Church. She loved visiting with other people and was the Welcome Wagon hostess for many years, welcoming newcomers to the area, and was known for her warm and welcoming personality. Lois also was the manager for Photo Express in Hupps Mill Plaza for many years. She loved Christmas & other holidays decorating for each one.

She is survived by a sister, Bernice Lowery (Jesse); brother, Enzie Childrey (Mary Lou); grandchildren, Chris Crenshaw (Leona) and Cathy Crenshaw Lee (Jeffrey); great grandchildren, Matthew Crenshaw, Taylor Crenshaw, and Daniel Lee; son-in-law, Jerry Crenshaw; brother-in-law, Bobby Wilmouth; sister-in-law, Faye Childrey and numerous nieces & nephews.
In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Pamela B. Crenshaw; brothers & sisters-in-law, Elvin Lee and Avis Childrey, James and Mary Childrey and Archie "Tubby" Childrey; sisters, Daneese and W.C. Talbott, Naomi and Wayland Young and Linda Wilmouth.

A Graveside Service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, March 30th, 2024 at Halifax Memorial Gardens with Reverend Tim Mull officiating. The family will receive friends at Ash Avenue Baptist Church after the service & committal.
