Lois Jones Murray, daughter of Herbert and Bettie Jones, was born on August 2, 1931, in Halifax County, Virginia.She departed this life on August 6, 2014, in Raleigh, North Carolina. Lois confessed Christ as her personal Savior and joined Ash Avenue Baptist Church where she was an active member for many years.She participated in Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, Adult Choir, and the Hospitality Committee. Lois was educated in the Halifax County Public School System.She was employed as an Extension Agent by Halifax County for many years and later served as a Dietician at The Woodview nursing home in South Boston, Virginia.She was also active in the Woodmen of the World Life Insurance Society where she held the office of Treasurer. Lois was a hard-working, kind-hearted, and loving person who impacted the lives of all she met.She loved her family and being involved in church activities.Her joyful smile and compassionate spirit will never be forgotten. In departing, Lois leaves many to cherish her fond memories: her son, Bob Murray; her daughter, Terrie Murray; her brother, Richard Jones Sr.; her sister, Doris J. Puryear; her sister, Rubye J. Snyder and her husband Gene; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.She was preceded in death by her husband, John R. Murray Jr.; her parents, Herbert and Bettie Jones; and her brothers, James Jones Sr. and George Jones. The family will receive visitors at Ash Avenue Baptist Church (900 Ash Avenue, South Boston, Virginia) on Sunday, August 10, 2014, at 2 PM.Funeral services will be held on Sunday at 3 PM at Ash Avenue Baptist Church with interment to follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery.
