Lois Gosney Newman

Mrs. Lois Gosney Newman of 1033 Comer Lane, South Boston, VA died Wednesday, September 18, 2013 at the age of 97. She was born in South Boston, VA on February 9, 1916 to the late Robert Kemper Gosney and the late Lula Power Gosney and was married to the late James Newman. Mrs. Newman was a charter member of Main St. United Methodist Church where she was a very active member of the Main St. United Methodist Women's organization. She is survived by several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by brothers, Robert Kemper Gosney, George Grayson Gosney, and Edward Gosney, and sisters, Mae Gosney Walden and Inez Gosney Winsted. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 21, 2013 at 2:00 PM at Brooks Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ed Rigg officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery. The family will receive friends for an hour prior to the service on Saturday.
