Lois Cole Thrower of South Boston passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, January 28, 2024 at the age of 97. She was born in Halifax County on December 21, 1926 to the late William Morgan Cole and Emma Whitt Cole. She was preceded in death by her husband, Weldon Harris Thrower.
Lois worked for many years at JP Stevens and Tultex before retiring. She loved to sew, quilt, cooking and flowers. She was a long time member of Shady Grove United Methodist Church.
She is survived by her daughter, Rosa Lee Newton Eades; sons, Wayne Thrower (Mattie) and Jeff Thrower (Kay); grandchildren, Cheryl N. Watson (Rodney), Dino Newton (Teresa), Tina N. Vaughan (Donnie), Cody Thrower and Scott Thrower (Kelly); great grandchildren, Kristin Thrower and Ashley Watson Talley (Drew); and great great grandchildren, Mila Talley and Jackson Talley.
In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Weldon Thrower Jr; grandchildren, Kevin Thrower and Neil Thrower; siblings, Nancy Newton, Alice Pool, Fred Cole and Clyde Cole.
A Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, February 1, 2024 at Shady Grove United Methodist Church with Reverends, Mike Russell, Don Bryant and Johnny Tucker officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will be receiving friends at her home, 6114 East Hyco Road, South Boston.
