Lorene Newcomb Fossett

BUFFALO JUNCTION Mrs. Lorene Newcomb Fossett, widow of Walter Ryland Fossett, passed away Saturday, July 6, 2019 at the age of 83.Born in Halifax County on July 19, 1935, she was the daughter of the late Henry Edgar Newcomb and the late Lila Maude Hudson Newcomb. Lorene was a member of Bluestone Independent Baptist Church. She loved her church and church family.Her grandchildren and great grandchildren were her pride and joy. Leaving behind to cherish her memories is a daughter, Cathy Blankenship and husband, Doug of Buffalo Junction; granddaughters, Cheri Blackwell of Atlanta, GA, Shannon Pruitt and husband, Jimmy of Buffalo Junction, and Stacy Newton and husband, T. Jay of Buffalo Junction; grandson, Randy Blankenship and wife, Katie of Stem, NC; and great grandchildren, Trevor Singleton, Dale Singleton, Daniel Singleton and Jonathan Lambert. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by brothers, Robert, John, Henry and sisters, Louise and Annie Mae. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, July 8 at Watkins Cooper Lyon Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in Bluestone Cemetery.The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, 1:00-2:00 PM at Watkins Cooper Lyon Funeral Home.
