Lorene Long Shotwell

Mrs. Lorene Long Shotwell of 1070 Traynham Grove Road, Alton, VA died Friday, February 28, 2014, at the age of 71. She was born in Person County, NC, on May 13, 1942, the daughter of the late Walter Avery Long and the late Sallie Bet Bowes Long and was married to Robert Wayne "Pee Wee" Shotwell. Mrs. Shotwell was a lifetime member of Ephesus Baptist Church of Semora, NC, where she served in many positions in the church. She was a faithful friend and member of her community and church. She was loved by her family as a wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Mrs. Shotwell is survived by her husband, Robert Wayne "Pee Wee" Shotwell of the home; daughters, Donna Lacks (Kenneth Loftis) of Clover, VA and Darlene Holland (Thomas Garber) of Pearisburg, VA; sons, Ronald Shotwell and wife Amy of Alton, VA and Kenneth Shotwell, also of Alton, VA; sisters, Louise Wilson of Alton, VA, Lois Adcock of Rougemont, NC, and Rosa Lee Baird and husband Howard of Oxford, NC; brothers, Robert Long and wife Paula of Alton, VA and Thomas Long and wife, Edna of Roxboro, NC; 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Peter Long, and a sister, Edith "Sis" Bohannon. Funeral services for Mrs. Lorene Long Shotwell will be held Monday, March 3, 2014, at 2:00 P.M. at Ephesus Baptist Church, 1894 Ephesus Church Rd., Semora, NC, with Rev. Larry Cain officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at Brooks Funeral Home Sunday night from 7 until 8:30 pm and at other times at the home, 1070 Traynham Grove Road, Alton, VA.
