Lottie Tuck Nunn

Lottie Ursula "Lottie Sue" Tuck Nunn of Virgilina passed away peacefully on Friday, July 29, 2022 at the age of 81, after years of illness. She was born on October 25, 1940 to the late Benjamin Pool Tuck, Sr and the late Katie Cleo Gravitt Tuck. She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Wallace Gray Nunn, Sr.; son, Wallace Gray Nunn, Jr (Kelly) and one beloved grandson, Wallace Gray (Grayson) Nunn, III; sisters-in-law, Betty Lou Nunn Perkins (Frank) and Glenna Griffin Nunn (Mac); and a number of nieces and nephews.
In addtion to her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers, Benjamin Pool Tuck, Jr., Col. (USAF), James Eli Tuck, Graham Adam Tuck; and sisters, Truman Tuck Swoope, Lou Tuck High and Eva Tuck Conduff.
Lottie was the niece of former Governor of Virginia and U.S. Congressman William Munford Tuck.
She was born at the Tuck Ancestral Home, "The Valley Home", on Buckshoal Farm, near Virgilina, VA and moved to her present home when she was 2 years old, where she resided the rest of her life. She graduated from Virgilina Elementary School and Halifax County Senior High School. She attended Averett College in Danville, where she graduated on a Friday and went to work on Monday morning at Citizens Bank of South Boston, which became United Virginia, then Crestar, then SunTrust and is now Truist Bank, She retired from SunTrust as an Assistant Vice President after 43 years of service.
She was a lifetime member of Virgilina Christian Church, where she sang in the choir and later served as piano and organ player. She was a Past Worthy matron of the Order of the Eastern Star, a Past Regent of the Daughters of the American Revolution, a member of the United Daughters of the Confederacy, and a member and past president of the Virgilina Womans Club, where she served on the Virgilina Cemetery Committee.
She served 16 years on the Halifax County School Board and served one term as Vice Chairman, 16 years on the Halifax County Board of Supervisors, where she served on the Agricultural Committee, the Recreation Committee, the Tri-County Community Acton Agency Board, and as Chairperson of the Fire Commission.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, August 2, 2022 at Brooks Lyon Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Larry Davis officiating. Interment will follow in Virgilina Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Monday, August 1, 2022 from 6-7:30 PM at Brooks Lyon Funeral Home and at other times at the home of Gray and Kelly Nunn.
