Louis Grett Howerton

Louis Grett Howerton, 90, of Buffalo Junction, Virginia passed away Thursday, May 7, 2020, at his residence. Mr. Howerton was born in Mecklenburg County on October 19, 1929, to the late Lonnie Lacy Howerton and Edna Melissa Elliott Howerton. Louis attended school in Clarksville. He was an agricultural and livestock farmer. He worked at Burlington Industries in Clarksville and was retired from Westinghouse and ABB, Inc. in South Boston. He was a member of Buffalo Baptist Tabernacle, where he served in many rolls and was awarded Honorary Lifetime Deacon for serving 63 years. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Willie L. Howerton; sister, Rachel H. Overbey; son, James L. Howerton; 2 sons-in-law; 1 daughter-in-law and 3 grandchildren. He is survived by his wife of 73 years, Virginia Louise Link Howerton of the home; sons, Mark Howerton and wife, Brenda, of Clarksville, John Howerton of Nathalie, David Howerton and Timothy Howerton of Buffalo Junction; daughters, Mary Lou H. Walker of Buffalo Junction, Sarah H. Price Evans and husband, Perry, of Boydton and Eunice H. Risland of Smyrna, GA. In addition, 10 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, 5 great-great grandchildren, 1 step grandson, 4 step grandchildren and 4 step great grandchildren also survive. Graveside services will be conducted on Saturday, May 9, 2020, in Buffalo Baptist Tabernacle Church Cemetery by the Reverend Billy Coghill and Reverend Robert Ohlmann.
