Loyd Edward Wilkerson

Loyd Edward Wilkerson, 81, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, June 22, 2012. Loyd was born on November 13, 1930 in Halifax County as the son of Corbett Wilkerson and Etta Matthews Wilkerson. Mr. Wilkerson was a retired worker from the Rochester Button Company and a member of the Willow Oak Christian Church. Loyd is survived by his wife Hettie Sue Wilkerson. Visitation will be 3:00 – 4:00 P.M. and the funeral service at 4:00 P.M. at Watkins Cooper Lyon Funeral Home, 703 Virginia Avenue, Clarksville, VA 23927. Dr. Michael Haskett will officiate. Interment will immediately follow at the Aarons Creek Baptist Cemetery at 1066 Aarons Creek Road, Virgilina, VA. Mr. Wilkerson is also survived by daughter and son-in-law Rita and Vance Bowen of Virgilina, step-daughter and son-in-law Jennifer and Donnie Brooks of Timberlake, NC, and grandchildren and spouses, Steven Bowen and Chasity, Ann Evans and Keith, Kay Adair and Bobby and Kim Cordier and Brandon. Loyd is also survived by his sisters and brothers-in-law, Peggy and L. D. Buchanan, Marie Thompson and Phyllis Cook, and by his brothers and sisters-in-law Robert and Kathy Corbett Wilkerson, Jr., and Mac and Becky Wilkerson. His step-grandchildren, Brandon Brooks of Leasburg, NC, and Tiffany Brooks of Timberlake, NC and eight great grandchildren also survive.
