Lucy Finch Smith Green

Mrs. Lucy Finch Smith Green, 94, widow of Lawrence Lamberth Green, Sr., died Monday, January 4, 2010 at her home. Mrs. Green was native to Mecklenburg County and was the daughter of Malcolm Watkins and Virginia Rolfe Smith. She attended Averett College and was a graduate of Longwood University. Her teaching career included schools in southern Virginia, South Carolina and northern Georgia. She was a member of Clarksville Presbyterian Church, Colonial Dames 17th Century, United Daughters of the Confederacy, Daughters of the American Revolution, and Emeritus member of the Twin Rivers Garden Club. Memorial services will be 1:30 PM Wednesday at Clarksville Presbyterian Church with The Reverends Rich Henderson and Kim Steinhorst officiating. Private interment will be in Oak Ridge Cemetery in South Boston. Mrs. Green is survived by her sons, Lawrence Lamberth Green, Jr. of Pittsboro, NC and Thomas Watkins Green, Sr. and his wife, Melody, of Clarksville. Grandchildren, Laura G. and Scott Brown, Lawrence L., III and Elyse Green, Stephen M. and Catherine Green, Benjamin M. and Clair Green, Thomas W., Jr. and Marlise Green, Pamela R. Jamerson, Jonathan Smith Green; and great grandchildren, Emma and Bryan Green, Mackenzie and Marissa Brown, Savannah Green, Alex and Chelsea Jamerson, Cary and Katherine Green.
