Luther Fleming "Buddy" Bomar

Luther “Buddy” Fleming Bomar of Scottsburg, VA, passed away Wednesday, November 15, 2023 at the age of 67. He was born on May 18, 1956 in Halifax County to the late James Garnet "Pappy" and Camilla Snead Bomar and was married to Peggy Hatcher Bomar, who survives. Buddy was a retired boilermaker and a member of the International Brotherhood of Boilermakers, National Transient Division. He as well as his father and brothers worked together and spent many years traveling on jobs and was a former employee of ABB.  Many fond memories were made. Buddy was an outgoing, funny man that loved to laugh and had a heart of gold. He enjoyed playing the guitar and the mandolin. Buddy's most treasured past time was spending time with family and friends in his shop.
Cherishing many fond memoires are his wife of 42 years, Peggy; children, Sherry May Bomar (Brian Scott Ashby) and Jessica Fleming Bomar (Brandon Lee Bollinger); grandchildren, Skylar Grace Perry and Bryer Lee Bollinger; siblings, Jimmy Bomar (Janet), Steve Bomar (Paula) and Penny Cabaniss (Mike) as well as numerous beloved nieces and nephews. Buddy was preceded in death by siblings, Mike Bomar and Stanley Bomar; nephews, Mikey Bomar and Scott Cabaniss and his beloved dog, Patches.
A Memorial service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Monday, November 20, 2023 in the chapel of Brooks Lyon Funeral Home. The family will receive friends following the service at their home.
