Mrs. Lynette Adcock Thomas, 83, widow of the Reverend Harry Lee Thomas, passed away Tuesday, January 7, 2014, at Meadowview Terrace in Clarksville, Va. Mrs. Thomas was born June 30, 1930, to the late Julian Carnegie and Grace Rogers Adcock in Granville County, NC. A graduate of Meredith College, she was an archivist for Colonial Williamsburg before she returned to Oxford, NC, as a librarian for the Masonic Orphanage. After marrying the Reverend Harry Thomas, they moved to South Hill where she worked as a bookkeeper for Hudson Warehouses. A member of St. James Episcopal Church in Boydton, VA, Mrs. Thomas served as the church organist. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday in the chapel at Watkins Cooper Lyon Funeral Home with the Reverend Dr. Paul Peter Hogg, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow in the Creedmoor City Cemetery, Highway 56 in Creedmoor, NC. Mrs. Thomas is survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Julia Adcock and Col. Robert F. Carr, of Alexandria. Her nieces; Ann Carr Whitney, Melanie Carr Curtis, and Pamela Carr McPherson, and nephews; Christopher Metteau Carr, and Julian Adcock Carr, also survive. The family will receive friends at the funeral home starting at 10:00 a.m. on Friday.
