Mac Lawrence Bowman

Mr. Mac Lawrence Bowman of Mecklenburg County, passed away on Wednesday, July 15, 2020 at the age of 83.He was born on July 30, 1936 to the late James and Doris Puryear Bowman and was married to Myrtle Bowen Bowman on December 24, 1955. Mac loved hunting and fishing.Before retirement, he was employed with JP Stevens and was a member of Nelson Baptist Church. In addition to his wife, Myrtle, he is survived by daughters; Julie Gilliam and husband, Gary of Virgilina, Diana Allen and husband, Lloyd of South Boston, Debbie Overbey and husband Leslie of Virgilina and Joyce Howerton and husband, Carl of South Boston; daughter-in-law, Pam Bowman; grandchildren, Sarah Allen, Brad Allen, Melanie Medley, Joni Look, Chad Overbey, Amber Bowman, Kyle Bowman, Casie Howerton, Travis Howerton, Amanda Bates, Matt Gilliam, and Michael Gilliam; and 8 great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sons, Steve Bowman and Lawrence Bowman; 3 brothers and 1 sister. A private graveside service will be held at Nelson Baptist Church with his loving family due to Covid-19. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association, P.O. Box 96011, Washington, DC 20090-6011.
