Madison Gunn Wiles

Madison Gunn Wiles of Nelson, VA passed away on Saturday, January 6, 2024 at the age of 23.  Born in Halifax County on August 31, 2000, she was the daughter of Matt and Mitzi Gunn.  Madison was married to the love of her life, Cody Wiles.

Madison was a 2018 graduate of Halifax County High School and furthered her education by receiving her associate degree from Southside Virginia Community College in Arts & Sciences, then proceeded with her bachelors degree in health promotion & education from the University of Lynchburg. She also studied and received her NREMT from Danville Community College and currently was studying the RN program at Southside Virginia Community College.  She excelled in her studies and graduated with honors.
Madison played Dixie softball and went to 3 World Series in a row, 2009-2011 and won 6 district championships and 3 state titles. She was a volunteer with Virgilina Fire Department and was also a member of the Women's Auxiliary.

Madison & Cody were smitten with their dogs, Oakley, Clover & Sadie, which she loved dearly. Whenever Madison needed a go-to man, Earl "Poppie" was there to the rescue.  She enjoyed camping, going to Texas Roadhouse and Mexican restaurants with family and rummaging through the bargain bins, Madison was an avid clearance shopper. Her and Cody's special vacation spot was Tennessee.  She loved Harry Potter and was proud to be a member of the Slytherin house.  She always had her sunglasses on top of her head no matter what she was doing. Madison will be remembered as a beloved wife, daughter, sister, aunt and friend.

She is survived by her husband, Cody; parents, Matt & Mitzi Gunn; siblings, Maranda Gunn Bates (Robbie), Joshua Gunn and Jacob Gunn; mother & father-in-law, Brian & Robbie Wiles; brother-in-law, Colton Wiles; nieces & nephews, Gracie Bates, MaHaley Boswell, Matthew Boswell and Madi Bagbey; numerous grandparents, aunts, uncles, and Nannie.
She was preceded in death by grandparents, Myrtle "Bigma" and David Wilmoth; Donnie Gunn; grandmother-in-law, Ann Wiles and a great grandfather, William Smith.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, January 11, 2024 at Union Christian Church in Virgilina with Reverend Norman Talley officiating.  Burial will follow in Clover Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 6 PM - 8 PM on Wednesday, January 10th at Brooks Lyon Funeral Home.
