Mancel Leroy "Sonny" Miley

VIRGILINA, VA Mr. Mancel Leroy "Sonny" Miley of Virgilina, VA died on Tuesday, December 9, 2014 at the age of 83. He was born in Canton, OH on January 7, 1931 to the late Howard Gay Miley and the late Glenna Gertrude Murphy Miley and was married to Joy Reaves Miley. Mr. Miley retired fromthe U.S. Navy as a Senior Chief Petty Officer, serving from January 1948 until November 1969. He then went to work at the Newport News Shipyard and Dry Dock. Right Worshipful Miley was a member of Faulkner Memorial Masonic Lodge #91 where he was a past Master and a past District Grand Master and a he was a member of Halifax Masonic Lodge #96. Mr. Miley was a member of Grace Baptist Church and a member of American Legion Post 8. He is survived by his wife, Joy Reaves Miley of Virgilina; 6 sons, Kenneth Eugene Miley of Georgia, Harmon Leroy Miley of Hallsboro, NC, Howard James Miley of Hampton, VA, Wayne R. Kennedy of Suffolk, VA, Todd Lacks of Washington, DC, and Ted Lacks of Randolph, VA; a daughter, Peggy Louise Khoen of Monticello, IN; 15 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, December 14, 2014 at 2:00 PM at Brooks Lyon Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Don Bryant officiating. Burial will follow at Grace Baptist Church Cemetery with military and masonic rites. The family will receive friends at the home, 1190 Ramble Rd., Virgilina, VA.
