Margaret Scott Cranford, wife of the late Clifton Floyd Cranford, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, March 23, 2023, at the age of 90. Born in Rocky Mount, VA, on August 11, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Arthur Averett Scott and Janie Brown Scott. Margaret was retired from a career in hospital administration. She enjoyed painting and was a talented artist. Margaret was a member at Gravel Hill Baptist Church, where she was avid supporter and volunteer.
She is survived by grandchildren, John Carrington Cranford and his wife, Joanie of Buffalo Junction, Anne Carlisle Cranford of South Boston; great grandchildren, Ashton and Colby Cranford and nieces, Cheri Budzinski (David) of Chesterfield, Sheila Womack (James) of Virgilina and Alysia Mitchell (Dean) of Charlotte. In addition to her husband and parents, Margaret was preceded in death by a son, Kenneth Alan Cranford; a daughter, Janet Lee Cranford and a brother, Fred Brown Scott.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, March 27, 2023, at Gravel Hill Baptist Church with the Reverend Joey Tucker officiating. Burial will follow in Aarons Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Watkins Cooper Lyon Funeral Home on Sunday evening, March 26, from 6 – 8:00 PM and all other times at her residence.
