Margaret Hudson Dawson

SOUTH BOSTON, VA Mrs. Margaret Hudson Dawson of South Boston, VA died Saturday, January 10, 2015 at the age of 94. She was born in Halifax Co., VA on July 17, 1920 to the late James Hudson and the late Lucy Cole Hudson. She was married to the late Clarence Puryear and the late Harper Dawson. Aunt "Mag" was a lifelong member of Black Walnut Baptist Church. She had deeply devoted neighbors, Gladys and John Poole, who watched over the Dawson household for many years. Survivors include step son, Lewis Dawson of Jonesboro, GA; step daughters, Ruth Dawson Majette of Grimesland, NC and Laura Catherine Dawson Fortune of Evington, VA; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Clarence Puryear and Harper Dawson, and family members, Hazel Cole, Eva Newman, Earl Hudson, Mary Cole, and Achille " Kink" Hudson. Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 12, 2015 at 2:00 PM at Black Walnut Baptist Church with Rev. Raymond Wooten officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM to until 2:00 PM at the church on Monday. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Black Walnut Baptist Church, PO Box 20, Cluster Springs, VA 24535.
