Margaret Lee Bailey Bowers

Mrs. Margaret Lee Bailey Bowers, 87, widow of John Lewis Bowers, died Tuesday, January 18, 2005 at MeadowView Terrace in Clarksville. Born in Apex, NC to the late Hubert Jessie and Clara Burt Bailey, she was raised by her aunt and uncle, Deo and Webster Yancey in Clarksville. Graduating from Clarksville High School, Class of 1933, she furthered her education at Longwood College graduating with the class of 1938. Previously an active participant of Jamieson Memorial United Methodist Church and member of Our Saviour Lutheran Church, she was a current member of Peace Lutheran Church. Margaret taught elementary education for 15 years. She and Lewis retired to Clarksville after living in Arlington from 1948 until 1978. Surviving are her daughter and son-in-law, Rebecca B. and Jim Lambert of Welcome, MD and son, John Lewis Bowers, Jr. of LaPlata, MD. Also surviving is grandson, Kevin Perry of Alexandria and great-grandson, Phillip Perry. Margaret was pre-deceased by her sisters, Evelyn and Annie Laura. Memorial services will be 2PM Saturday at Jamieson Memorial United Methodist Church with Pastor Dennis Hahle officiating. The family will receive friends before and after the service. Private interment services will be in Oakhurst Cemetery. Watkins Cooper Lyon Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
