Margie Rice Monroe

Mrs. Margie Rice Monroe of 2041 Philpott Rd. Lot 9., South Boston died October 14, 2011 at the age of 65. She was born in Halifax County, VA on November 23, 1945 the daughter of the late Lewis Rice and the late Lona Anderson Francis and was married to the late Lawrence Monroe, Jr. Survivors include 2 sons Jimmy Lynn Hughes and Berry Keith Hughes, both of South Boston; 3 daughters, Pamela Walker of Halifax, Karen Hughes and Darlene Hudson both of South Boston; brother Doug Francis of Vernon Hill, sisters Anita Powell of Nathalie and Mavis Rice of Baltimore, MD; 13 Grandchildren and 7 Great Grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by 4 brothers Carroll Rice, Lacy Rice, Larry Francis, and Lester Francis . Memorial services will be held on Tuesday, October 18, 2011 at 3:00 PM at Mountain Road Baptist Church with Rev. Michael Wetherington officiating. The family will receive friends at the home of Karen Hughes, 1333 Shepherd Street, South Boston. The family requests memorials to The Halifax County Cancer Association, P.O.
