Marie Norwood Phillips

Edna Marie Norwood Phillips of South Boston passed away on Monday, January 16, 2023 at the age of 83. She was born in Vance County, NC to Benjamin Norwood Sr. and Stella Hope Norwood on August 24, 1939. Marie is preceded in death by her husband, Earl Brooks Phillips.

Before her retirement, Marie was employed as a weaver at Burlington Industries. She enjoyed outdoors, gardening and working in her flowers. She dearly loved her family and enjoyed cooking for all of them. She was a member of Island Creek Baptist Church.

Marie is survived by her son, Scott Phillips (fianceé Jennifer Reagan); step daughter, Lisa Crawford of Arkansas; step son, Kevin Phillips of New Mexico; grandsons, Jayse Phillips (Mallory) of Bailey, NC and Ryan Phillips of Lynchburg; great granddaughter, Elsie Phillips of Bailey, NC; step grandson, Curtis Reagan (Jordan); step granddaughters, Casey Crawford and Heather Reagan (fiancé Eric Osborne); step great grandsons, Camden Crawford, Nathan Francis, Travis Francis, Karter Reagan and Breyer Reagan; step great granddaughter, Alicia Crawford; sisters, Linda Wilcox and Nancy Thomas; brother, Gene Norwood and many nieces & nephews.

In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by siblings, Ben Norwood Jr., Helen Paynter, Ed Norwood and Buck Norwood.

Funeral services will be held at Brooks Lyon Funeral Home Chapel on Wednesday, January 18, 2023 at 12 Noon with Reverend Jack Stewart officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday at Brooks Lyon Funeral Home one hour prior to the service, 11-12:00.
