Marion Thomas Brewer

Oxford, NC Marion Thomas Brewer, husband of the late Rebecca Pittard Brewer, passed away Tuesday, October 31, 2017 at the age of 74.He was born on August 21, 1943 in Mecklenburg County to the late Minnie Alice Elliott and Thomas Edward Brewer.Marion was a devoted member of Amis Chapel Baptist Church where he served in many capacities such as Chairman of the Cemetery Committee, Deacon and Trustee. After retiring from Burlington Industries, where he worked for 37 years, and from farming; he and his horse, B.J., provided buggy service for events like weddings and proms. Marion is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law, Jeffrey and Patsy Brewer, Steven and Sandra Brewer, Robin and Gina Brewer all of Oxford, NC; sisters Joyce Williams of Buffalo Junction, Mary Elizabeth Elliott of Virgilina, Sherby Wall of Aarons Creek; brothers Thurman Brewer of Virgilina, Carrington Brewer of Hitesburg; 7 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.In addition to his wife and parents, Marion was predeceased by siblings, Roy Brewer, June Brewer, Winston Brewer and Alice Clay. Funeral services will be held at 2 pm on Thursday, November 2, 2017 at Amis Chapel Baptist Church with the Reverend Terry Howard officiating.Burial will follow in the church cemetery.The family will receive friends from 7 – 8:30 pm on Wednesday, November 1 at Watkins Cooper Lyon Funeral Home, 703 Virginia Ave., Clarksville, Va.
