South Boston, VA. - Mrs. Marjorie Bagby Blount passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday, August 8, 2015. She was the daughter of the late James Charlie Bagby and the late Mamie Gravitt Bagby and was married to the late David Thompson Blount. She is survived by one son, David Thompson “Tommy” Blount, Jr. and wife, Pauline and one daughter, Aurelia “Reya” Roller and husband, Bobby, both of Scottsburg, VA. Also surviving are three grandsons, David Thompson Blount, III and wife, Brandy of Lynchburg, VA, Ryan Charles Roller and wife, LeAnne of Clover, VA, and Reid Thompson Roller of Scottsburg, VA. Mrs. Blount is also survived by four great grandchildren, Alexis, Mackensey, and Madison Blount and Camden Roller. A sister, Grace B. Shuffleburger of Portsmouth, VA also survives. In addition to her parents and husband, a sister, Sterling Bagby, predeceased her. She had many exceptional caregivers including the late Hazel Barker, Kay Reaves, Arlene Hudson, Geraldine Lacks, Nancy Meeler, and Jane Hall. Because of them she was able to stay in her own home. The family is eternally grateful to these wonderful ladies. In addition to her caregivers, the Sentara Halifax Hospice staff provided awesome end of life care to Mrs. Blount, particularly Jamie Beard, RN. Visitation will be Monday, August 10 at Brooks Lyon Funeral Home from 7:00 PM until 9:00 PM and the funeral will be Tuesday, August 11 at 11:00 AM at Main Street United Methodist Church with the Reverend Ed Rigg officiating. Burial will follow in Halifax Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at other times at the home, 1108 Marshall Ave., South Boston, VA.
