Marjorie “Jean” Short Martin of Bullock, NC, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, February 28, 2021, at the age of 73. She was born in Henderson, NC, on March 5, 1947, to the late Herbert Riddick Short and Dorothy Wilson Short. Jean was a graduate of J.F. Webb High School and worked at Burlington Industries for 30 years. She loved Elvis Presley, dancing and listening to country music. Jean also enjoyed attending stock car races and tractor pulls. She will be remembered as a loving, generous and kind person. Jean was a member of Stovall United Methodist Church. Jean is survived by her son and his wife, Charles and Lesa Pleasants of Bullock; grandchildren, Tyler Kellerman of Hillsborough and Gary Pleasants of Henderson; sisters, Rebecca “Becky” Thompson of Bullock and Trisha and Mike Tingen of Oxford; a special niece and care-giver, Barbara Elliott and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and by nephews, Bobby Williams and Chad Barker. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, March 4, 2021, at Stovall UMC with the Reverends Greg Richardson and Johnny Yount officiating. Entombment will follow in the Mausoleum at Meadowview Memorial Park in Oxford. The family will receive friends from 6:30 – 8:30 P.M. at Watkins Cooper Lyon Funeral Home on Wednesday, March 3 and all other times at the home of Trisha and Mike Tingen at 9053 McDuffie Rd.
